Why is Art so Healing?

One of the biggest challenges when it comes to mental wellbeing is that emotions are complex and it can be so hard to find the right words to express feelings.

Art provides an additional way of communicating, understanding and processing emotions and is accessible for anyone regardless of who they are.

Art therapy is a well established and highly effective form of psychotherapy, supporting people from all backgrounds.  Art therapy helps with different challenges surrounding mental health, trauma and attachment.

Reduced stress, improved confidence, and enhance self-awareness are just a few of the benefits.

Not everyone needs to or wants to attend therapy and much like you wouldn't go to the doctors for everything to do with your physical health, there are loads of things that can be done to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Making art and being creative is just one way to improve wellbeing, prevent worsening and be more compassionate towards yourself and others.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, stress, burnout, depression or brain fog or just need a fresh way to connect with yourself, the Creative Healing Kickstart course is here to help you.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's up to you how many art materials you use to make art and you might decide to have a few materials such as oil pastels, pencil crayons and water colour paints to start with and then after some time you might decide to purchase more thinks like acrylic paint and canvasses to create more sustained pieces of art. I encourage the use of a sketchbook or creative journal but this isn't essential.

This course is not art therapy and learning the skills in this course does not qualify you to practise art therapy. In this course I am sharing expertise and strategies developed over many years of being a practising art therapist in order to help you get started to make art in a therapeutic way. If you are looking to learn how to be an art therapist then be sure to carry out your own research in your country of residence. If you are looking to work with me directly to have therapeutic support then check out CREATIVE ILLUMINATION My 6 month 1-1 Experience.

I am sorry that you are struggling right now and I encourage you to reach out to your GP or local mental health services for support if you are feeling unsafe and at a crisis.
